The Process of Removing a Failed Dental Implant
First, your mouth will be thoroughly numbed to ensure your comfort during the procedure. In many cases, a patient will also use a form of sedation dentistry to make the process smoother. It may be possible to have a new implant placed right away if there is no sign of infection or jawbone damage, and as long as there’s adequate jawbone density. However, this can only be done in certain situations. More often, a patient will need to undergo treatment to address whatever caused the dental implant failure in the first place. It will usually take a patient four to six months to recover from dental implant removal, at which point a new implant may be placed.
