Step 1: The Consultation
The entire veneers process begins with your consultation. This appointment is crucial because it allows you to talk to your cosmetic dentist about your smile goals, learn more about their educational background, and ask any questions you have. A portion of this visit is also dedicated to an oral exam, which will determine if you are a good candidate for veneers. At the end of the consultation, a custom treatment plan will be made to detail the specifics of your smile transformation, like the shape, shade, and size of each veneer.
Step 2: Preparing Your Teeth for Veneers
Of course, you don’t want your veneers to look bulky or protrude in an unnatural way. That’s why a small portion of your enamel is removed during the preparation process. After this step is completed, it will be time to take impressions of your teeth. Both the impressions and the specifications of your veneers will be sent to the dental lab, and the process of creating your permanent ones will begin!
Step 3: Wearing Your Temporary Veneers
Typically, it takes a few weeks to craft your veneers. In the meantime, we will provide you with a temporary set. Although they will look great, they are nowhere near as durable. So, you will be asked to stick to a soft foods diet. There will also be a few changes to your oral hygiene regimen. Of course, your cosmetic dentist will review all of this with you at your initial consultation so you know what to expect.
Step 4: Bonding Your Permanent Veneers in Place
Once your veneers arrive at our office, we will schedule a time for you to come back in. At this point, we will remove your temporary veneers before bonding your permanent ones securely in place. Then, any final adjustments will be made, and the process will be complete!
Although there are several steps, the entire veneers process takes three visits or less for most patients. So, you won’t have to worry about a lengthy turnaround time either! In a matter of weeks, you’ll have the gorgeous smile you’ve been dreaming of.
